Updated: Nov 15

On Thursday, November 7th and Friday, November 8th, the Emerging Florida Chi Chapter of SAE at UTampa hosted a fund raising and awareness event for "Movember," a non-profit organization dedicated to raise money and build awareness for men's health issues including prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men's mental health issues. The event was held at the Vaughn Center Courtyard at UTampa.

"The event was called 'Spray An SAE,'" said Eminent Archon Trevor Sandler,"and we are proud to say we raised $600 for 3 worthy causes," Sandler continued, "There was great interest in our event, with a lot of interaction from a large number of students, faculty members, prospective students and their families." Sandler explained, "This was our first philanthropic event for our Emerging Chapter, all the brothers had a great time, and we were pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback and support we received."

As part of "Spray An SAE," participants were encouraged to make a donation, and they would earn the choice of drenching any of the brothers with water balloons, spraying them with a super soaker, or dousing them with a bucket of water.

"The Florida Chi Emerging Chapter knows how to put the 'fun' in fund raisng," stated Mark Turner, Chapter Advisor. "The idea of this fundraiser was very creative, the weather was perfect, and the location couldn't have been better." Turner continued, "These brothers have proven that public service can be enjoyable, interactive, fun and still serve the Tampa Bay community."
