Florida Chi Chapter initiates 38 new brothers at UTampa.

Updated: Oct 23, 2024

On September 17, 2024, a total of 38 new brothers were initiated into the Florida Chi Emerging Chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon at UTampa. The Initiation was the last of a weeklong series of events for the new chapter including effective chapter management training, elections, social events, and on-going recruitment efforts.

"We have a strong group of undergraduates that have taken on the task of bringing the Florida Chi emerging chapter into the future at UTampa," said Brother Pete Engle, "and I've been impressed with their enthusiasm and willingness to take on a whole series of initiatives whole heartedly." Brother Engle stated, "These young men are going to do great things at UTampa right away."

Mark Turner, the Florida Chi Chapter Advisor said, "These men understand the importance of 'striking while the iron is hot' and are already working diligently towards continued growth and expansion;" Brother Turner continued, "They were initiated tonight, and they already have plans for adding brothers in the very near future."

Two alumni brothers from UTampa, Frank Silcox and Brett Phillips, were impressed with each of these young men. "We've waited 33 years for our Chapter to return home to UTampa, stated Brother Silcox, "I am confident these men will take the Florida Chi Chapter to heights we've never seen before." Brother Phillips added, "These young men are driven to succeed, and I have all the confidence in the world that they will do just that."

Notable dignitary, Brother John Fantone, was in attendance along with his two sons Jeff and Marc Fantone to watch his grandson, Ryan, get initiated into the Florida Chi Chapter. All four of the Fantone family in attendance are SAE brothers. Brother John Fantone is considered by many as SAE Royalty, as he was the recipient of the "SAE Distinguished Service Award" for his many years of dedicated service to Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
